Singing During and After Illness
The last time you had an upper respiratory tract infection (cold, flu, COVID), did you know how to keep your voice safe?
Sometimes it's tough to decide: Is it OK to keep practicing and rehearsing? Or should you rest vocally? What vocal exercises will support your recovery? What are safe guidelines for resuming your vocal activities?
In this 45-minute session—delivered live, via Zoom—you will learn all about how to manage singing during and after an illness:
Determine whether your vocal cords are still “too sick” to sing…even if you’re feeling much better
Use special vocal exercises during illness (if appropriate) and during recovery that will help restore your voice back to health
Gauge your level of vocal cord swelling
Safely pace your vocal re-entry (e.g., returning to rehearsal, resuming your practice routine, etc.)
Decide if and when it’s time to see a voice doctor for lingering voice symptoms
