Co-Vo Fundamentals > Five High Notes Mistakes
Five High Notes Hurdles
If you’re a singer who’s been around the block a few times, you’ve probably heard all sorts of advice about how to approach high notes. And let’s be honest—some of that advice can leave us more confused than confident!
“You should go down to go up.” (What does that even mean?)
“You should support more as you get higher.” (So, should I use more air pressure…or less?)
“You should raise your eyebrows to lift your palate.” (Really? Won’t I just look perpetually surprised?)
“You shouldn’t sing your high notes so heavy.” (How can I put them on a diet?)
But there’s one thing all singers can agree on: when it comes to singing high notes, we’re always chasing that balance of freedom, comfort, and control. The question is, how do we actually achieve it?
This 45-minute vocal workout—delivered live, via Zoom—will explore:
The five most common hurdles that singers encounter when attempting to sing high notes. (You’re guaranteed to have encountered more than one of these!)
What you can do to “clear” these hurdles and achieve your most effortless high notes.
Through targeted vocal exercises, you’ll gain insights into how body alignment, breath support, vocal cord coordination, throat posture, and muscular engagement all contribute to achieving vibrant, comfortable high notes.
