Facial Posture for Singers
Has anyone ever told you to “relax” part of your face while you sing? While releasing unnecessary and excessive tensions in facial muscles is indeed important, activating other muscles, subtly and healthily, in appropriate pitch ranges, is just as crucial. The classical singer’s ideal facial posture is NOT, in fact, completely relaxed!
This 45-minute vocal workout—delivered live, via Zoom—will introduce you to the basics of the musculature of the face, and how to adjust elements of facial posture to boost resonance. Exercises will address:
Embouchure (mouth and jaw opening)
Cheek muscles
Eyebrows and forehead
Lips
Chin
Remember, practice makes permanent. To improve your facial posture for singing, we invite you to repeat this workout often. Every Facial Posture workout is different, while focusing on the same set of fundamental skills.
